At Charleston Brain and Spine, our treatment philosophy is not complicated—we simply provide exceptional patient care and always consider the least invasive therapies first. Time after time, our experience has proven that most patients with a spinal problem do not require spine surgery.
Who we are, what we do.
- Our neurosurgeons are Board Certified in Neurosurgery and Spine Surgery. They are highly experienced neurosurgeons who routinely diagnose and treat a wide range of spinal problems.
- We provide patients with trustworthy, unbiased information to help them make informed decisions about their treatment and health.
- We obtain an accurate diagnosis, as this is essential to the patient’s treatment plan and outcome.
- We believe most patients do not require spine surgery, and therefore, offer non-surgical treatments, which may include lifestyle and activity modification, weight reduction, physical therapy, medications, chiropractic, acupuncture, and spinal injections. Often, therapies are combined for the maximum benefit.
Despite a realistic course of non-operative treatment, some patients do not obtain a desired level of relief from neck or back pain. At that point, surgery may be discussed—the potential benefits and risks—and the type of spinal procedure.
Modern equipment and techniques allow most spinal surgical procedures to be performed minimally invasively. While many minimally invasive procedures require no hospitalization at all, some will require a brief overnight stay.
